Billing Rate Change Notice

Re-implementation of Infrastructure Maintenance Fee

Dear Freetown Water Customer:

In 2015, we voted to temporarily reduce the Infrastructure Maintenance fee for a five-year period. The fee was reduced from $13.69 to $3.69 per billing cycle for the five-year period.  We took this action to reimburse our customers for the cost of the Braley Road pump station that was incorrectly charged to them.
Starting with the January 2021 billing cycle, the Infrastructure Maintenance fee will be increased to $13.69 since the five-year period has ended.  On your bill it will be titled Quarterly Service Fee.

In addition, both the cities of Fall River and New Bedford, who supply our water have raised their rates.  As a result of their increase to us, we must pass along this increase to our customers.  Effective January 1, 2021 the water rates will increase as follows.

Old Rate Per CCU         New Rate Per CCU

Residential Customer               $6.70                              $6.90

Commercial Customer             $6.70                              $7.10

A CCU equals 748 gallons of water.

All water customers were sent a letter of notification on December 10, 2020.
