Makeup and Charge

On September 22, 2022, the Board of Selectmen established the Council on Aging/Library Community Building Committee. At their meeting on October 3, 2023, they approved the makeup of an eleven (11) member committee consisting of three (3) Seniors, three (3) Library, four (4) members at large and one (1) Selectmen. At their meeting on October 24, 2022 the Board added two alternates (one from COA and one from Library). On May 15, 2023 the Board of Selectmen confirmed the makeup of the committee to consist of eleven (11) members. Three (3) Library Representatives, three (3) Council on Aging Representatives, four (4) At Large Members, one (1) Selectmen and also confirmed to have two (2) alternates (one from COA the other from Library) would also be selected.

Charge of Committee

The Council on Aging/Library Community Building Committee was formed to create a combined Council on Aging/Library facility to meet the existing and future needs of the residents of the Town of Freetown. The Committee advises and supports the Building Committee, Selectmen, Council on Aging Board and Library Trustees on the design and construction of the combined COA/Library building, oversees the project budget and schedule, and coordinates with town agencies. This committee will work collaboratively with the Project Manager, and Building Committee to select specific aspects of the building project (i.e. flooring, paint colors, kitchen cabinets etc.). The committee will keep the Building Committee and Board of Selectmen updated on the status of the project.
