March 18th: Update on Vote by Mail and Early Voting In-Person for 2021 Annual Town Election...

Good news! The state legislature has extended the emergency legislation once more, and there WILL be early voting by mail for the Annual Town Election! All applications for a vote by mail ballot must be received by the Town Clerk before 5:00pm on March 30, 2021.  Applications can either be dropped off in the drop box located out in front of Town Hall or mailed directly to the Office of the Town Clerk, Town of Freetown, PO Box 438, Assonet, MA  02702. More information on Early Voting by Mail, including an application to receive a ballot, can be found here (application is also attached, below).

Previously: The Fall 2020 elections allowed for many voter options under emergency legislation in response to COVID-19 which expired on December 31, 2020, then extended through March 31, 2021. No excuse vote by mail and early voting in person will not be offered for the 2021 Annual Town Election being held on Monday, April 5, 2021 nor future elections without additional election legislation. In the event that there is updated legislation after March 31, 2021 regarding future elections, new information will be posted on the Elections’ Page of the town website.

If there are voters that are high-risk, self-quarantined or otherwise unable to vote in person, they can apply for an absentee ballot.  Residents are encouraged to call the Town Clerk’s office if they need any assistance.
