Yes.  Please review our Payment Plan Policy for more information.

What is perpetual care?

Perpetual care is money paid to help provide maintenance to graves and cemeteries, such as lawnmowing and fertilizing. Perpetual care is kept in its own account, and the money paid by the individual(s) purchasing a lot is deposited into that account. Only the interest, and not the principal, of the perpetual care account may be expended for care of cemeteries.

In the Assonet Burying Ground, perpetual care primarily pays for extaordinary maintenance such as repairing broken headstones where it is possible to repair them.  Perpetual care does not cover staff expenses or salaries. Likewise, lot owners are responsible for maintaining decorations, plantings, and other items placed on grave sites. The caretakers may remove flowers if they are past their prime and impede grass mowing, but this is not guaranteed.
