Residents who have not yet registered to vote and wish to be eligible to vote in the upcoming State Election (Nov. 7th), have until the Final Voter Registration Session scheduled on Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2006 from 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. to register. This session will be held at the Town Clerk’s Office in the Town Hall. Registrations are also accepted Monday - Friday at the Town Clerk’s Office between the hours of 9AM-4PM. Mail-in registration forms may be requested by calling 508-644-2203. Those registering to vote using mail-in registration forms, must have their forms postmarked no later than October 18th in order to vote in the November 7th State Election.

Anyone who is a citizen of the United States and a resident of Massachusetts and is 18 years of age on or before the election day, will be eligible to register to vote. No names can be added to the Voter List except to correct omissions made by clerical error or mistake after 8:00 p.m. on the final registration date.

Voters who register for the first time by mail will be required to show identification when they vote for the first election. Those voters may either mail a copy of their identification to the Town Clerk’s Office with their voter registration form or present it when they vote on election day. Other voters may also be requested to show identification. Accordingly, it is recommended that all voters bring identification.

Acceptable identification must include the voter’s name and the address at which they are registered to vote, for example: a current and valid photo identification, current utility bill, bank statement, paycheck, government check, or other document showing the voter’s name and address.

The Help America Vote Act of 2002 requires all voters who are required to show identification and do not to cast provisional ballots. These ballots will be counted in the final tally, but only after their eligibility to vote has been determined.
